Here’s a tweet from Donald Trump to Stephen Curry: “Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team. Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!”
Context: Every year the basketball team that wins the NBA (National Basketball League) Championship celebrates their grand victory at the White House and the players get to meet the President. But several months before any team won this year’s NBA championship, there were strong indicators that the winning team would not visit the White House because Trump is in charge. This year the winning team were the Golden State Warriors, and one of their star players is Stephen Curry.
Now here’s a tweet in response to the one above, it was tweeted by Lebron James to Donald Trump:
“U bum @StephenCurry30 already said he ain’t going! So therefore ain’t no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up!”
Now in this tweet, Lebron is calling Trump a bum.
I can’t imagine anyone who would disagree. The best insults are short and sweet. A lot of Lebron’s critics say that he isn’t a cold-blooded killer like Kobe Bryant or Michael Jordan but this tweet proves otherwise. I also like how Lebron is sticking up for a team that beat him in the 2017 NBA Finals. It just goes to show that he understands that there are bigger things than basketball and that all Americans must unite to prevent their hare-brained president from plunging their country (and the world) into chaos.
Can you imagine one of the top athletes in your country talking to the head of state that way? Long live free speech!
